Highlighting Our Spring Share Your Shutters Winner

Tyler Jorgensen

We’re moving through springtime here in Austin, but we haven’t forgotten about our regularly scheduled Share Your Shutters contest. Spring’s contest winner is Tonya S., who submitted some photos of her new shutters that really show off some great design choices.

plantation shutters in dining room

Tonya’s space features some gorgeous new Polywood® plantation shutters in the dining room. Since the shutters are closed, you can really get a look at how much control plantation shutters really give you over your lighting. Envision that dining room with some softer lighting; it’s almost a picture-perfect setting for an intimate candlelit dinner, right? With the right shutters in your space like Tonya has, you can express the mood you want no matter the time of day.

Take a look at how the white shutters perfectly match the white trim on the baseboard as well as the white ceiling. Those matching whites let the black table and the wood floor’s natural color ”pop” even more.

But that wasn’t her only photo submission. She also shared a photo of her new sliding barn door shutter!

There are a few reasons we love this barn door shutter. The first reason is that it looks fantastic. The homegrown look of the wood paneling with that smooth black hardware above give a timeless yet relaxed look. What we love even more than the looks is the practicality of the shutter. Her barn door shutter sits off the window frame, so it can control the light levels while still allowing the window to easily open and shut.

Since her shutter sits on the front the frame, Tonya can still make use of her window sill. For example, if she wanted to set some plants on the sill to get sunlight, she’s even able to close the shutter so it can catch some rays while still blocking sun glare from outside.

According to Tonya this is the third time they’ve chosen window treatments from Sunburst Shutters, and we want to thank her for her continued support in choosing us for all her shutter needs. For being selected as our Share Your Shutters feature this quarter, Tonya will receive a $100 gift card to a local restaurant.

Are your new shutters beautiful enough to be featured here? Show them off! Share a photo of your home featuring your shutters using the hashtag #ShareYourShutters, or post a photo on our Facebook page. We’d love to showcase some shutters from a Austinite next time!
