Shutters made from real wood will usually take longer than faux wood because of the added steps of staining and finishing the wood.
It will take a little time, but it’s absolutely worth the wait.
If you’re a seasoned handyperson, you might be familiar with some of the process involved in installing shutters. However, taking on DIY shutters might be a tad complex for most Austin homeowners. We typically recommend a smooth finish for faux wood shutters like Polywood.
Perks of a textured finish for shutters – A textured finish on your shutters gives you a more natural, wood-like look to your shutters. That’s fantastic if you’re trying to bring the look of nature indoors, particularly if you want to match the look of your hardwood furniture. A textured finish on your shutters may also make dust harder to see, meaning you don’t have to wipe them down as frequently as you would if they had a smooth finish. A textured finish looks especially great on real wood shutters in Austin.For the most part, the bigger your window is, the more shutter panels you’ll need. Our recommendation is to use one panel for windows up to 26” wide, two panels for windows up to 50” wide, and four for windows up to 98” wide.
Single wide panels are not as user-friendly as multiple panels. Sometimes, wide panel shutters can’t fit flush against the wall due to their width. Two smaller panels solve that issue.
For windows that you might open or shut often, you’ll be better off with multiple panels, since they’re easier to open and get better support from the shutter frame when you do open and close them.
